The event-exclusive Light Bowgun Rose Assault
made its debut during Spring Festival 2026 in Monster Hunter Now.
Because of its looks, it is often nicknamed the “Rose LBG”.
At G10-5, it has 2633 attack and -40% affinity.
Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 is built into the weapon, and its ammo lineup is just 4 Pierce Ammo and 2 Slicing Ammo.

It looks like a rose, but it might as well have the soul of Black Diablos
inside.
Underneath the looks, it is a very brute-force raw LBG.
With Shogun Ceanataur
armor now available,
it is also easy to reach Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3, which works very well with Rose Assault.
※Equipment and skill information is current as of September 20, 2026.
Conclusion
For Rose Assault, I think Sliding Reload is the basic choice.
It only uses two strong ammo types, and once you have Recoil Down, the remaining slots can go into damage.
You can also reach Critical Ferocity Lv. 5 and Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3 without Driftsmelting. It is strong.
The weapon already comes with Critical Ferocity Lv. 1, so a Critical Ferocity build is easy to make and seems to be the common route.
Personally, because Rose Assault is raw, I also recommend a Burst build.
If you can reach Burst Lv. 5, its expected damage while Burst is active can exceed a pure Critical Ferocity Lv. 5 setup. I compare them below.
| Part | Equipment | Main Skills |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Rose Assault | Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 |
| Head | Golm Helm | Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 |
| Chest | Ceanataur Mail | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 1 / Recoil Down Lv. 2 |
| Arms | Quematrice Braces | Spare Shot Lv. 1 / Recoil Down Lv. 1 |
| Waist | Tigrex Coil | Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 |
| Legs | Ceanataur Greaves | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 2 / Advanced Water Attack Lv. 1 |
Main Skills
- Critical Ferocity Lv. 5
- Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3
- Recoil Down Lv. 3
- Spare Shot Lv. 1
If you are building Rose Assault from scratch, I think this is a good place to start.
It fits together cleanly, and you can use the open Driftsmelt slots for Burst, Pursuit, or other damage skills.

Rose Assault Stats
| Stat | G10-5 |
|---|---|
| Attack | 2633 |
| Element | None |
| Affinity | -40% |
| Special Skill | Wyvernblast Counter (SP) Lv. 3 |
| Equipment Skill | Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 |
| Style Customization | Up to Lv. 20 |
Its base affinity is -40%, and the weapon’s built-in Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 brings the total affinity to -50%.
Ammo
| Ammo | Capacity | Recoil | Reload |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pierce Ammo 1 | 4 | High | Slow |
| Slicing Ammo | 2 | Very high | Normal |
Those are the only two ammo types.
Use Pierce Ammo from range, then aim Slicing Ammo at weak points or the tail when it comes up. With only two ammo types, it is easier to handle than LBGs with a more complicated ammo rotation.
Because it is non-elemental, you can bring it to a wide range of monsters without preparing a different elemental set for each matchup.
Rose Assault and Critical Ferocity
Critical Ferocity is one of the key skills for Rose Assault.
Normally, a negative affinity hit deals 75% damage. Critical Ferocity lowers affinity even further, but gives negative affinity hits a chance to deal much higher damage.
| Lv. | Affinity | Critical Ferocity Proc |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | -10% | 150% |
| 2 | -15% | 175% |
| 3 | -20% | 200% |
| 4 | -25% | 225% |
| 5 | -30% | 250% |
Rose Assault already has -40% affinity, so Critical Ferocity is a natural fit, and the weapon comes with Lv. 1 from the start.
You can compare the numbers with the calculator below.
The calculator uses a 30% activation rate for Critical Ferocity.
With -40% weapon affinity, Critical Ferocity Lv. 5 gives -70% total affinity and an expected multiplier of 119.25%.
Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 + Burst Lv. 5 gives -55% total affinity and 133.58%, while adding Advanced Burst Lv. 2 raises it to 143.85%.
Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 is still below neutral at 98.75%, while Lv. 2 reaches 102.75%.

Of course, even Lv. 1 can hit pretty hard when Critical Ferocity high-rolls…
Style Customization
For normal use, I recommend Sliding Reload.
You can reload while evading, so you do not need Reload Speed.
That lets you spend more of the build on Critical Ferocity and Slicing Ammo Boost.
| Part | Equipment | Main Skills |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Rose Assault | Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 |
| Head | Golm Helm | Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 |
| Chest | Ceanataur Mail | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 1 / Recoil Down Lv. 2 |
| Arms | Quematrice Braces | Spare Shot Lv. 1 / Recoil Down Lv. 1 |
| Waist | Tigrex Coil | Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 |
| Legs | Ceanataur Greaves | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 2 |
Weapon Lv. 1 + Golm Helm Lv. 2 + Tigrex Coil Lv. 2 gives Critical Ferocity Lv. 5.
Ceanataur Mail and Greaves give Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3, while Ceanataur Mail and Quematrice Braces give Recoil Down Lv. 3.
The basic rotation is to use Pierce Ammo as your main ammo, then fire Slicing Ammo when it cycles in.
Even with Recoil Down Lv. 3, Slicing Ammo still keeps some recoil.
Quematrice Braces also gives Spare Shot Lv. 1, so there is a 10% chance to fire without consuming ammo.
The downside is that Sliding Reload can do a wasted animation if the magazine is empty, which can throw off your rhythm.
If You Want to Keep Firing Slicing Ammo: Stepping Shot
Slicing Ammo is strong and the recoil is huge, so why not just boost Slicing and use Stepping Shot?
This is the Stepping Shot + Evading Reload Lv. 4 build for that kind of hunter.
| Part | Equipment | Main Skills |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Rose Assault | Critical Ferocity Lv. 1 |
| Head | Golm Helm | Critical Ferocity Lv. 2 |
| Chest | Ceanataur Mail | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 1 |
| Arms | Somnacanth Vambraces | Evading Reload Lv. 2 |
| Waist | Nargacuga Faulds | Evading Reload Lv. 2 / Peak Performance Lv. 1 |
| Legs | Ceanataur Greaves | Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 2 |
Main Skills
- Evading Reload Lv. 4
- Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3
- Critical Ferocity Lv. 3
- Peak Performance Lv. 1
With Stepping Shot, you can keep moving while firing without worrying as much about the large firing recoil.
You also do not need Recoil Down or Reload Speed.
The tradeoff is that you need the very expensive Evading Reload Lv. 4.
Evading Reload Lv. 4 has a 70% chance to refill 2 rounds every time you evade.
For more details, see my Sinister Shadow Bolt build guide.
Rose Assault also holds 2 rounds of Slicing Ammo, so if Evading Reload activates after you empty the magazine,
you immediately get both rounds back and can keep Slicing Ammo loaded.

The idea is the same as Bazel Typhoon or Sinister Shadow Bolt with Stepping Shot.
I do not really recommend it though, because it adds even more RNG.
Parameters
Rose Assault is an event-exclusive weapon,
but it supports Style Customization up to Lv. 20 just like regular weapons.
Starting from 2633 attack at G10-5, raising Style Customization and selecting Attack for all three parameter slots brings it up to 3233 attack.

If you are using Critical Ferocity, there is no reason to raise affinity just to erase the negative affinity.
So for parameter selection, I would take Attack across the board.
Sliding Reload or Stepping Shot?
| Sliding Reload | Stepping Shot | |
|---|---|---|
| Main Ammo | Pierce + Slicing | Slicing |
| Reload Speed | Not needed | Not needed |
| Recoil Down | Lv. 3 | Usually not needed |
| Evading Reload | Not needed | Lv. 4 required |
| Slicing Ammo Boost | Flexible | Required |
| Ease of use | ◎ | ○ |
For normal use, Sliding Reload.
If you really want to keep Slicing Ammo loaded, want to cut tails,
or are already comfortable with Stepping Shot, then Stepping Shot is fine.
Pierce Ammo is strong against long-bodied monsters, but it is harder to get enough hits on small or highly mobile targets. Being able to switch to a Slicing-focused setup depending on the monster is another useful part of Rose Assault.
Rose Assault vs. Sinister Shadow Bolt
They are both Light Bowguns, but they fill slightly different roles.
| Weapon | Features |
|---|---|
| Rose Assault | Raw / Pierce + Slicing / General use |
| Sinister Shadow Bolt | Raw / Cluster Bomb Stepping Shot |
If you want something that does not care about elemental weakness and can also cut tails, I would take Rose Assault.
Sinister Shadow Bolt is also a general-purpose raw LBG, but Rose Assault uses Pierce Ammo and Slicing Ammo, so it feels very different from constantly firing Cluster Bombs with Sinister Shadow Bolt.
I also find Rose Assault easier to use in multiplayer when I do not want to spam Cluster Bomb explosions everywhere.

Rose Assault can put out solid damage right from the start,
so farming with it feels quick and smooth.
Summary
Rose Assault is a high-attack raw Light Bowgun built around Critical Ferocity.
Sinister Shadow Bolt can still have stronger burst in some setups, but Rose Assault is much easier to keep stable from the start of a hunt.
My basic recommendations are these three:
- Use Sliding Reload for Style Customization
- Slicing Ammo Boost Lv. 3 + Recoil Down Lv. 3
- Choose Attack for the parameter selections
For damage, Burst is also strong instead of pushing only Critical Ferocity Lv. 5, and raw attack works well with multiplicative damage skills.
Event weapons have returned in reruns before, so if you missed Rose Assault, keep an eye out for another chance to get it.

Sliding Reload makes evading easy and lets me clear hunts quickly without much stress.
I might actually like it more than Sinister Shadow Bolt.
